Position Summary

To lead the planning, delivery and monitoring of consulting projects, through leveraging KAPSARC’s distinctive thought leadership, expertise, functional offerings, and strategic partnerships to effectively fulfill clients’ needs, whilst ensuring all project commitments, timelines and standards are met.

 

Major Accountabilities

Strategy and Plans

  • Contribute to the development of the department strategy and cascade it into the business plans to create value for KAPSARC and facilitate the achievement of the strategic priorities.
  • Regularly report to the manager on the operational activities of department, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required, to keep them informed and updated on the day-to-day activities.

People Management

  • Organize and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
  • Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to the team to support their overall growth and development.

Business Development

  • Participate in internal and external business development activities by displaying a sound judgment in anticipating and understanding the client’s needs, proposing new functional offerings and thought leadership initiatives, and leading aspects of the development of proposals, in order to seize business opportunities and win new projects.

Project Management

  • Lead the delivery of projects to ensure that they are completed to the highest level of client satisfaction, within agreed timescales and budget.
  • Direct the conceptual and problem-solving exercises and provide guidance to the project team on delivery approach, analytical techniques, and overall storyline to drive the effective delivery of the project’s mandates.
  • Review and monitor the project deliverables and timelines, anticipate changing client/project needs and develop alternative solutions to manage any constraints and challenges.

Partnership/Relationship Management

  • Manage key client and stakeholders’ expectations to build and foster long-term relationships, providing high-quality professional services to manage their expectations and fulfill their needs.

Requests and Resources Management

  • Provide key inputs on the scoping of the energy sector stakeholders’ requests and the management/allocation of resources and staffing to ensure that projects will be delivered in line with a clearly defined scope of work, leveraging the best-fit project team and technical capabilities.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

  • Lead the implementation of departmental policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.

Reporting

  • Review the reports being developed by the team and ensure they are prepared timely and accurately and meet KAPSARC's requirements, policies, and quality standards.

Related Assignments

  • Perform any other duties which the organization may require to be carried out.

 

Recommended Qualifications and Years of Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field. With 12-17 years of experience and, or
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field. With 10-15 years of relevant experience or
  • Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field. With 8-13 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering client-centric projects.
  • Prior experience of working in a consulting capacity is a must.
  • Experience in the energy sector and/or public policy is preferred.
