Executive Director - Solutions Productization

JOB DESCRIPTION 

To lead and manage the solutions productization process for KAPSARC by centralizing all tools, datasets, models produced by experts and designing user friendly products that allow the fulfillment and delivery of internal and external energy stakeholder requests. The role oversees four units: Product engineering, Product management, GIS, Library. The position blends strategic leadership and technical expertise, ensuring KAPSARC’s research is converted into policy simulators, analytical tools, GIS solutions and other data-driven digital solutions supporting global energy policy decisions.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Plans
•    In conjunction with the VP, formulate and direct the implementation of the functional strategy in line with vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
•    Ensure that the overall business strategy is translated into annual operational business plans for the function and the performance is monitored to ensure business plans are in line with the overall strategy.
•    Ensure the provision of subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and provide counsel to the leadership on all related areas to facilitate the achievement of the strategic objectives.
•    Design and implementation of internal strategy for tools development and data managementPeople Management
•    Provide overall direction for the effective achievement of objectives through effective leadership by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, and mentoring and developing team to maximize performance and learning.

Performance Management
•    Ensure proper cascading and implementation of the functional  / departmental objectives and implement monitoring mechanisms to assess progress and promote a performance driven culture.

Budgeting
•    Direct the preparation and consolidation of the functional department budget and monitor the spend to ensure the budget is well utilized as per the plan.

Business Development
•    Partner with the Consulting team to position user-centric products that address the stakeholder's specific needs in order to support the scoping and fulfillment requests.

Product Development
•    Oversee the productization of policy simulators, dashboards, and analytical tools 
•    Oversee the product development stages by directing the formation of business concept, creation of system architecture and monitoring testing results, for the creation and enhancement of new and existing products (models, tools, data sets, etc.), in order to develop a broader set of proprietary products that address the stakeholders needs.
•    Provide subject-matter expertise to the team on developing and maintaining run-ready model repository and guide the development of models catalog, model run procedures, models versions, models' associated data and help-guides, in order to improve KAPSARC’s energy sector stakeholders’ access to models.
•    Collaborate with the Comms and PR team to supervise the execution of KAPSARC’s product market launch plans and ensure that solutions productized comply with KAPSARC’s branding guidelines and standard templates.

Hosting and End-User Support
•    Provide overall direction for the effective management of the back-end tools and software needed to host KAPSARC’s intellectual property safely and securely.
•    Oversee the development of product reference materials (technical manuals, user guides, training materials, Q&As, etc.), and provide expert advice to stakeholders, in order to enable the end-user to successfully deploy KAPSRAC’s products.
•    Direct hosting strategy using cloud-native platforms

Intellectual Property and Copyrights
•    Collaborate with the Legal team to ensure that solutions productized are always protected as KAPSARC´s proprietary content. 

Partnership/Relationship Management
•    Manage the partnerships with the key stakeholders and potential partners to develop an awareness and identify their product requirements.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
•    Lead the management of change through continuous improvement of functional systems, processes and practices considering global standards and changes in the business environment.
•    Leverage AI tools to enhance products as well as research and advisory capabilities

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
•    Direct the development and oversee the implementation of functional policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.

Reporting
•    Direct the preparation of periodical management reports and progress reports to keep the senior management informed about the progress of various initiatives and to facilitate decision-making.

Related Assignments
•    Perform any other duties which the organization may require to be carried out.        

Qualifications:

• Bachelor´s degree in Engineering, Economics, or any other related field. With 18+ years of experience and, or 

  Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or any other related field. With 16+ years of relevant or

  PhD degree in Engineering, Economics, or any other related field. With 14+ years of relevant experience.

•  

  Proven track record of productizing solutions relevant to the energy sector.

•  

  Prior experience in the energy sector and/or public policy is a must.
